Cormorant and Grey Heron Reserve in Kąty Rybackie
The Cormorant and Grey Heron Reserve in Kąty Rybackie was established in 1957 within the Vistula Spit Landscape Park to protect the breeding grounds of these birds. It is the largest cormorant colony in Poland and one of the largest in Europe.The reserve area provides them with excellent living conditions, which has significantly increased the bird population.
Cormorants are excellent divers and can stay underwater for up to two minutes, feeding mainly on fish. They build nests in tree crowns and migrate away for the winter, returning to the Spit in early spring.
It is worth visiting this unique place to see one of the largest colonies of these remarkable birds with your own eyes and experience close contact with the wild nature of the Vistula Spit.
